Frances Anna Steinbach Sparks, 100, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Fellowship Home Brookside. She was born on December 3, 1922, in Tomahawk, WI, to the late Louis Steinbach and Anna Kottman Steinbach. Mrs. Sparks grew up in Tomahawk, WI and was married and started her family there. They moved to Valdosta in the late 1950’s when her husband, Gail Jerome Sparks, was transferred to the paper mill in Clyattville. They joined Messiah Lutheran Church soon after arriving and were very active faithful members. She was a very crafty person, baking, crocheting and other crafts. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Sparks is survived by her son Greg Sparks (Arlene), of Perrysburg, OH; her son Daryl Sparks, of Valdosta, GA; her daughter, Renee Akers (Rev. John) of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Sparks, Bill Sparks, Roger Sparks, Brian (Ansley) Sparks, Kevin (Jaime) Sparks, Stephen (Ewelina) Sparks, Andrew Akers, Amber (Michael) Hunt; and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Lohmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
