FRANCES MAE STRINGER, 83, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born March 5, 1926 in Roanoke, VA, a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Bowman Cox. Mrs. Stringer was a member of New Harvest United Methodist Church. She loved to bowl, play BINGO, and square dancing, which she and her husband, W.C. Stringer, taught in the Valdosta area, including at L.A.R.C., and in the Georgetown, FL area, where they also taught at the Palatka A.R.C.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne and wife Kathy Stringer of Valdosta, Curtis and wife Sherrie Stringer of Carrollton, and Paul K. Stringer of Georgetown, FL; one daughter, Patricia and husband Dan Eigenbrode of Ellington, CT; six grandchildren, David and wife Becky Stringer of Nashville, Tiffany and husband Ryan Bodge of Universal City, TX, Dennis and wife Jen Hughes of Centennial, CO, Paul Stringer of Georgetown, FL, and Christian and Brandon Eigenbrode of Ellington, CT; seven great-grandchildren. She was one of four children, Edgar Cox, Jean Davis, and Gary Cox, all of VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her husband W.C. Stringer and two daughters, Cecelia and Sherry Stringer.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Houser and Rev. Elvin East officiating.
