Frances Lamon

Frances Lamon, 81, of Lake Park, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at South Georgia Medical Center.

She was born August 17, 1932, a daughter of the late David (Dave) and Lillian (Fawn) Scott Mitchell, in Brooks County, where she grew up and attended school. Shortly after marrying S.E. (Buddy) Lamon, the couple moved their family to Lowndes County and she began her career as a Bookkeeper at Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Valdosta, retiring after many years. Following her retirement she worked as a Staff Accountant at the CPA firms of her husband, and later her son David, until the Lord called her home.

Mrs. Lamon was of the Baptist faith and was a very godly woman. Her family was her "heartbeat"; she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie Lamon and Janet of Valdosta, Clyde Lamon, M.D. and Debra of Moultrie, and David Lamon and Barbara of Lake Park; nine grandchildren, Jamie Lamon and wife April, Joe Lamon, Britt Lamon, Eli Lamon, Savanna Lamon, Kaley Lamon, Makenzie Hobgood and husband Matt, Kariann Lamon and Raney Lamon; two great-grandchildren, Mara Lamon and Tyler Lamon; one sister, Alice Butler of Brooks County; one brother, Raymond Mitchell of Brooks County; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, S.E. (Buddy) Lamon; and a grandson, Ryan Lamon.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Lamon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. David Tart and Bro. Glenn Everett officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
