Frances Electa Gilliam Ricket, wife of Kenneth (Ken) Thomas Ricket, died December 15, 2021, in Hospice care, in Valdosta, GA. The couple had lived in Valdosta most of their 55+ years of marriage.
She was born in Greenville, SC, on May 10, 1944, to the late Frank Furman Gilliam and Olive Electa Tinsley Gilliam.
In addition to her husband of 55+ years, she is survived by her brother Frank Gilliam and his wife Diana of Simpsonville, SC, and nephew Matt Gilliam and his wife Andrea of Candler, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Nancy Dora Gilliam.
A faithful Episcopalian who sang in the choir at Valdosta’s Christ Episcopal Church for more than 40 years, she was also a soloist at churches in the Greenville, SC, area.
She and husband Ken were active at Christ Episcopal Church in many areas, including helping start its involvement in Cursillo, a biblical and spiritual experience.
She served on the Valdosta Symphony Guild and was a supporter of the Turner Center for the Arts.
Her professional life included more than 30 years at Moody Air Force Base, with her last position serving as Occupation Transition Assistant.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Valdosta State College.
Her celebration of life will be at 10am on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Christ Episcopal Church with The Rev. David Perkins officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday night from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Funeral services and burial will be on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:30 at Thomas McAfee Downtown Chapel in Greenville, SC, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 12:30-1:30pm.
