Frances D. Kafoure, 96, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, November 21, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Born in Poland on March 30, 1908 to Joseph and Mary Dezarek. She was a member of the Garden Club, former member of the Valdosta Country Club and a member of Christ Episcopal Church where she participated in the Eight O’Clock Service. She and her late husband, Louis Kafoure, the founder of Metal Products Division of Thompson Industries, were very active in Boys Club and Boy Scouts and she continued to attend the “Kafoure Family” dinners that hosted retirees and former employees of Thompson Industries until very recently. She loved to travel, loved the game of golf and loved to play bridge, etc.
Preceded in death by her husband, Louis Kafoure, she is survived by her nephews and nieces, Thomas E. Tony, Marlene and Karl Means, Thomas Patrick Kafoure, of Indianapolis, IN, Ann Marie Young of Cincinnati, OH; caregiver and friends, Sharon Quartey, Pearlie Lipscomb, Cassandra Ceasar, of Valdosta; special friend, Ruby Smergener of Concord, NC.
Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Christ Episcopal Church with Father Peter Ingeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the Pearlman Cancer Center.
