Frances Clements Carter

Helen Frances Clements was born September 24, 1924 to Hode and Alma May Clements of Ray City, GA. She went to be with Jesus on June 7, 2014. Mrs. Carter was married for more than 53 years to Lawrence L. Carter whom precedes her in death. Also preceding her in death are her granddaughter, Kellie McDonald and her grandson, Stephen P. Buffaloe.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurel and her husband, Eddie "Buck" Thomas of Valdosta, her son, Lawrence "Larry" Carter of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, her daughter, Sherry and her husband, David Buffaloe of Columbia, TN, six grandchildren, Leslie McDonald Johnson (Ben) of Evansville, IN, Glen McDonald (Kelli) of Valdosta, Michael Buffaloe (April) of Hahira, Matthew Buffaloe of Columbia, TN, Lindsey McDonald Mendoza (Mark) of Hahira and John Skye Thomas of Valdosta, ten great grandchildren, Danielle Taylor of Valdosta, Caleb Adkins of Blountstown, FL, Olivia, Emma and Jackson McDonald of Valdosta, Aiden and Seth Mendoza of Hahira, Micah and Asher Buffaloe of Hahira and Bentley Thomas of Valdosta, one great great granddaughter, Isabelle Taylor of Valdosta.

Also she is survived by her 'adopted children' Sharon and Sam Rothenberger of O'Brien, FL and Margarette Demps, dear friend, companion and caregiver of Valdosta, several nephews and a niece.

She graduated from Valdosta State College and taught school for approximately 25 years both at Ray City, GA and at Pine Grove School in Lowndes County. She especially loved science and anything to do with nature.

She was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church from 1975 until her health declined. Mrs. Carter was involved with the Young At Heart, Vacation Bible School and serving Wednesday night suppers. For years she was known as the 'Birthday Girl' or 'Card Lady' as she sent 30-40 birthday cards out every month. She and her husband were frequent visitors at the Nursing Homes in Valdosta and Lakeland to spread God's Word and made special efforts to visit patients who had no other visitors.

Mrs. Carter was an avid fan of basketball, especially that of the Chicago Bulls with her favorite player being Noah.

She was a geneology buff being a member of the Huxford Geneology Society for many years and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 32 years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Robertson, Reverend Mike Everson and Reverend Hugh DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 p. m. at the funeral home.
