Frances B. Blanton

Frances B. Blanton, 85, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Crestwood Nursing Home. Mrs. Blanton was born January 26, 1928 in Ben Hill County, to the late Nezzip and Gracie Bell Barnes. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone in Valdosta as an operator. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stephen Ashley and Shelia Blanton of Spartanburg, S.C.; Ben Stewart and Tracey Blanton, Quitman, GA; and Dan Matthew Blanton of Valdosta: 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; also surviving is a sister-in-law JoAnn Barnes of Bemiss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Wilson Blanton, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harold and Nancy Barnes and Wayne Barnes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blanton will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Ben Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
