Floyd Felton (Bash) Corbett, 69, of Lake Park passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Echols County on August 6, 1941 to the late Warren Randall (Tobe) and Carrie Pearl Swilley Corbett. He worked as a farmer and until his illness as a bus driver for the Echols County School System. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Erna Hardeman Corbett of Lake Park; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Jeff Bolenbaugh, Sherrie and Richard Carter and Robin and Alan Leonard all of Lake Park. His heart belonged to his grandchildren, however, especially his grandson whom he now joins in death, Joshua Williams, better known to grandpa as "the boy". A barrel-full of granddaughters also survive, Rebekah Tucker and her husband Ben, Brianna Carter, Emily Leonard, Triston Carter, Sarah Leonard, and K.C. Leonard; siblings and their spouses, Staten and Iris Corbett of Panama City, Florida, Lloyd and Daisy Corbett of Lake Park, Minnie Lee Koutz of Tallahassee, Betty and Carel Van de Munt of Ontario, Canada, and George Corbett of Clyattville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. In addition to his parents and grandson, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Veda Hollabough, Sallie Mae Hutchens, and Frances Delores Ann Corbett.
Services for Floyd Corbett will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Corbett and Dr. Keith Sandlin officiating. The burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Antioch Church Building Fund or the Lake Park Church of God Kid's Church.
