Floyd (FD) Draper, 67, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Preston and Cannie Manor Draper. He retired from the United States Air Force and Civil Service with 40 years of service. Mr. Draper was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors are his wife, Frances Brown Draper, daughter, Sheila (Scott) Haner, son, Sean (Amy) Draper all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Gavin Draper and Braxton Draper; brother in law, Allen Swafford, nephew, Edward Swafford of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters in law, Irene Brown, Ruth (Elwood) Starling and Catherine Brown all of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Johny Draper and Harold Draper, sister, Willie Mae Swafford, sisters in law, Margaret Brown and Inez Lott, brother in law, Julian Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Bryan Jarvis, Mr. John Klimko and Mr. Jerry DeLoach will officiate. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
