Florence Lucille Hackney Reaves

Florence Lucille Hackney Reaves of Atlanta and Hahira made the journey to heaven on August 29, 2021. Florence was born November 22, 1922 and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her lifelong sweetheart and husband, of 66 years, Harold King Reaves. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Florence is survived by her daughter, Cathy Quarterman (David), son Don Reaves (Diane) and grandchildren Keith, Kevin and Kristal.
She attended Commercial High School, Atlanta, GA. She was a resident of Atlanta for the majority of her life, only recently relocating to Hahira, to be closer to her daughter and son.
She brought joy to all who met her and laughter to those who took care of her the last several years. She was a dedicated member of North Atlanta Baptist, First Baptist Church and later Briarcliff Baptist Church where she was a regular member of the choir and also volunteered in the church food bank.
Florence and Harold loved to travel and visited many destinations throughout the US and Europe. She enjoyed baking apple pies, cookies and cakes and is known throughout the state of Georgia for her famous crème de menthe brownies. Some of her other joys were found in shopping, especially for shoes.
She will be laid to rest next to Harold at Crest View Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia. There will be visitation on Thursday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m. and the service at 11:30 a.m. at Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
