Florence C. Dunman

July 13, 1932 — March 19, 2016

Florence C. Dunman, 83, of Valdosta passed away March 19, 2016 at the Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. She was born on July 13, 1932 in Sanford, FL to the late James and Louise Brewer Catikos. Florence was a graduate of Valdosta High School with the class of 1949 and received her bachelor's degree in education from Valdosta State College in 1953. For thirty years, Mrs. Dunman was a school teacher. She taught in Florida, California, and Georgia and twenty-five of those years were with Valdosta City Schools. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard and was a member of a local garden club. Florence faithfully attended Christ's Fellowship Church where she loved her church family. She was also close to her nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dunman is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbi and Ray McGraw of Valdosta; a granddaughter, Allison Kumpik and family of Baxley, GA; her brother, Ted Catikos of Cocoa, FL; two sisters-in-law, Ann Perry and Sugie Catikos, both of Valdosta; special nieces and nephews, Patti and Randy McCullar, Peggy and Quinton Pulido, Ken Perry, Jamie and Gabrielle Catikos, all of Valdosta, Skye and Phil Deaton of St. Simons Island, GA, Beverly and Mell Stephenson of Maple Valley, WA; a large extended family and many close friends with whom she cherished. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. "Bob" Dunman.

A celebration of life for Florence C. Dunman will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in the chapel at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends for visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or consider making a donation to the Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Drive Valdosta, GA 31602, Christ's Fellowship Church Mission Fund, 417 Connell Road, Valdosta, GA 31602, or the American Cancer Society, P.O.
