Florence Albert Gosma Sumner, 96, of Valdosta, GA died peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Lake Haven Nursing Home. Born on December 3, 1910 in Maple Grove Township, MI, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Amman Albert. She was an interior designer and retired in 1977 from Bishop’s Furniture Store in Muskegon, MI. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George E. Gosma in 1949, and her second husband, Mathias T. Sumner in 1997. Mrs. Sumner was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Mrs. Sumner is survived by her daughter, Marcia Gosma Goggin of Valdosta; three sons, James E. Gosma (Louise) of Virginia Beach, VA, Rev. Robert D. Gosma of Genesee Depot, WI, David A. Gosma (Barbara) of Muskegon, MI; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Robert Gosma officiating. Entombment will be at a later date, in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, North Lauderdale, FL. The family will receive friends Monday prior to the mass at the church from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to ACTO of Valdosta, Inc. or charity of your choice.
