Faye LeGette Radford, 82, of Hahira, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, her residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Hahira on May 9, 1942, to the late John Duncan LeGette & Myrlee Howell LeGette; she grew up there and played basketball for Hahira High School in the late 1950’s. During high school, she worked at a dime store in Hahira, and she met a young Moody airman there. Emmett Radford would hitchhike to town for a chance to talk to his ‘Honey Drip Drop’. They soon started dating and then were married on December 24, 1960. The young couple resided in Suffolk, Virginia where they lived for 24 years until they moved back to Hahira in 1984. They were married a sweet 53 years prior to Ray’s death in 2013. Faye devoted many years to ladies retail clothing sales, retiring in 2004. She was a devoted follower of Christ who prioritized her prayer life above all things. She had a kind heart; the ones that knew her would say that she loved like Jesus. Some of her favorite pastimes included listening to gospel music, studying her Bible, canning vegetables, and spending quality time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Ray Radford of Hahira, a daughter and son in law, Faith & Larry Kolb, also of Hahira; four sisters and a brother in law, Ellen Hand of Arkansas, Billie Dean Griffis of Cecil, Joann Sawyer of Valdosta and Marlene & Mike Daugherty of Hahira. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Christopher Dillan Radford of Valdosta, Larianne (& Thomas) Walters of Hahira, Marlie (& Beau) West of Valdosta, Gracie Kolb and Natalie Kolb, both of Hahira; a great grandson, Finley Walters of Hahira and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Ray Radford, three sisters, Melba Rea Hall, Evangeline LeGette, Alene Griffin and a brother, Charles LeGette.
