Faye Jordan Voigt

April 23, 1917 — November 16, 2008

Faye Jordan Voigt, 91, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, November 16, 2008, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief period of declining health. Mrs. Voigt was born in LaGrange, Georgia on April 23, 1917, the daughter of the late Thomas Watts and Ada Elizabeth Jordan. In 1946 she and her husband George, co-founded Voigt Sheet Metal. She was an active member of Women in Construction in the 1960's. Mrs. Voigt was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian who loved her church, and was actively involved as WMU Director, the Senior Choir, and Sunday School Teacher.

A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Voigt is survived by her daughters and son in law, Gail and Pete McCord of Quitman, Joy Ann Voigt (momma's buddy) of Valdosta, sons and daughters in law, Al and Betty Voigt, Kenny Voigt of Valdosta; grandchildren, Bubba (Peggy) McCord of Quitman, Britt (Lori) Voigt of Valdosta, Greg Voigt of Valdosta, Kristy (Gary) Etheridge of Valdosta; great grandchildren, George McCord of Quitman, Turner Voigt, Luke Voigt, Caleb Voigt, Brittany Voigt, Lane Etheridge, Ethan Etheridge all of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Voigt was preceded in death by her husband, George Voigt, grandson, George Voigt McCord, sister, Jean Adams and brother, Russell Jordan.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Reverend Mac Weaver and Dr. Phil West officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.
