Faye Joiner Baker, 75 of Lake Park, died on Saturday, August 8, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Born on February 13, 1934 in Cook County to the late Homer & Vera Faircloth Joiner, she had lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and had worked in the past in banking and education. She was very active in the Valdosta Chapter #244, Order of the Eastern Star. She held various offices in the local chapter and the Grand Chapter of Georgia. Mrs. Baker has always been very outgoing and welcoming to all she met, and always had a smile on her face, even during her final illness. In her later years she especially loved to travel. Mrs. Baker was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Mrs. Baker is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Mike & Sybille Baker, Tampa, FL, and Tim & Pam Baker of Lake Park; two grandchildren, Zachary Baker of Washington, D.C., and Amy Baker of Lake Park; her brother and sister in law, Paul & Devonne Joiner of Lenox; a sister, Jessie Lee Wise of Jacksonville Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (Joe) J.F. Baker, her parents and her stepmother Betty Spradley Joiner.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Henry Cannington will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenox.
