F. Thomas (Tom) Young

F. Thomas (Tom) Young, 73, died on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at his residence in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 28, 1935, Tom practiced law in Valdosta for 40 years until his retirement in 2000. Tom received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Georgia Law School in 1960. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, member of the Southern Judicial Circuit Bar Association – President 1975, member of the Georgia Bar Association – Board of Governors 1975-76, member of the Florida Bar Association and a member of the Valdosta Bar Association – President 1972. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Valdosta.

Survivors are his wife Debbie Young of Atlanta; three sons, Stewart of Valdosta, Thomas Jr. of Atlanta, Chad Craig (David) of Atlanta and two daughters, Ryan Stengel of Sherman, Texas and Tonya Rosenberger (Jay) of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, Cameron and Casey Young, Drew Stengel, Matthew and Anabelle Rosenberger and Jansen Craig. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Cam U. and Ruth Willingham Young.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. There will be no burial service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. before the memorial service at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to United Hospice, Inc., Norcross, Georgia, the Alzheimer's Association, or American Heart Association.
