Everet Allen "Alan" Dennis

November 26, 1940 — July 3, 2016

Everet Allen "Alan" Dennis, 75, of Valdosta, Georgia, died on July 3, 2016 at 2:24 a.m., at his home in Orlando, Florida surrounded by his Wife and daughters.
Born November 26, 1940 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Clyde Dennis and Atlie Hutchinson Dennis, during his youth, Alan worked on his family's farm, in the local saw mill, and later raced stock cars. After serving for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force he retired as a Master Sergeant and then returned to work for another 20 years as a civilian on Moody Air Force Base. He was a volunteer firefighter at Bemiss Barretts for 20 years, an active band booster for his daughters for over 10 years, and held season tickets to watch the Lowndes Vikings long after his daughters graduated. He loved to hunt, watch Earnhardt race, work with the hundreds of tools in his shed, drive his truck down old dirt roads and, more than anything else, spend time with his family. In June of 2015 he and his wife, Brenda, moved to Orlando to be closer to their daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughter.
Alan leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Brenda; daughter Angela Dennis, daughter Shelly (Kenny) Goodwin, granddaughter Hailey, and son-in-law Craig Carruthers. He was predeceased by his daughter Sherie Carruthers. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Jimmy (Delores "Scout") Dennis, Eulamae (Andy) Koperna, Marge (Bob) Phillips, and Elizabeth (Harold) Rolling, as well as numerous nephews and nieces who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his brother Wilbert Dennis and his sisters Clyde Conley, Sybil Cooke, and Alice Maxwell.
