Evelyn Young Gombas

Evelyn Young Gombas, 80, of Orange Park, FL and formerly of Valdosta died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, FL. Mrs. Gombas was born in Quitman on March 30, 1936 to the late Lacy and Cora Lee Hiers Young and had lived in Valdosta for many years before moving to Orange Park eight years ago. Mrs. Gombas was a Baptist. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Valdosta Bowling Hall of Fame.
Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Judith and Ken Webster of Prattville, AL, Jody and David Robertson of Middleburg, FL, Sharon Evans of Jacksonville, FL, Donna and Charles Guess, Paula Borrero all of Orange Park, FL, David and Elizabeth Gombas of Jacksonville, FL; fourteen grandchildren, Richard (Katie) Abbott, Donald (Melissa) Abbott, Leah (Tony) Crafts, Richard (Jessanna) Sloan, Traci Sloan, Amie Evans, Adam (Jessica) Evans, Ashley Evans, Jordan Guess, Ryan (Carli) Guess, Kyle Buckingham, Lyndsay (Ben) Ridgway, Alexandria Gombas and Benjamin Gombas; fourteen great grandchildren, Donald J. Abbott, Caitlyn Abbott, Chassity Abbott, Drake Abbott, Beckham Marshall, Jude Crafts, Henley Sloan, Harrison Sloan, Brandon Evans, Isaiha Evans, Tyler Evans, Gavin Evans, Kallee Evans, Lucas Guess; sister in law, Lillian Young; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Gombas, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
