Evelyn Hiers Henry, 95, of Valdosta died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Jennings, Florida on October 30, 1922 to the late Phillip Edgar and Fannie Alderman Hiers and had lived in Valdosta most of her life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Mrs. Henry retired from the Valdosta City School System where she served as secretary for W. G. Nunn Elementary School for twenty years.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Bowman of Marietta, two sons and daughters in law, Barry and Janis Henry of Atlanta, Jack and Lisa Henry of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Brook (Sam) Lotze, Suzanne (Jeremy) Loyd, Rob (Meredith) Bowman, Richard (Kelley) Henry, Wade (Annabelle) Henry, Zac (Lynde) Henry, Reynolds Henry; her great grandchildren, Tanner Lotze, Macy Lotze, Kendall Bowman, Blake Bowman, Catherine Loyd, Maggie Loyd, Andie Henry: her sister, Helen Matthews of Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Richard (W.R.) Henry; four sisters, Mazie Connett, Alma Frantz, Catherine Arnold, Ella Mae Carter and five brothers, Cleon Hiers, L. S. Hiers, Phillip Hiers, Kenneth Hiers and Thomas Hiers.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, September 17, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with a private family burial to follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 220 N.
