Evelyn Brooks May, 99, of Valdosta died Friday, January 16, 2015 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 5, 1915 to the late Thomas Perry Brooks and Elsie Williams Brooks. Mrs. May was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player and volunteered with the Valdosta Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed extensive travels with her beloved husband, S.B.
Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Susan May Pope of St. Simons Island, GA; Carolyn May Bruce and Val Bruce of Atlanta; two grandchildren and their spouses, Laura Pope Rader and Tim Rader of Villa Rica, GA; Jeffrey Pope and Ashley Pope of Newnan, GA; three great grandchildren, Austin Rader, Olivia Rader and Kathryn Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Selu Burton "S.B" May.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, January 18, 2015 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Bob Moon officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 220 N.
