Eugenia Fletcher Lewis of Valdosta, went to be with God and her beloved husband, Remer L. Lewis, Sunday morning, May 25, 2008. She was a native of Lowndes County for 86 years. A member of Adel Church of Christ, she had of late moved her membership to Forrest Park Church of Christ. Mrs. Lewis was a resident of Langdale Place and a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Remer L. Lewis of Valdosta, and brothers, Freeman Fletcher and Dewit Fletcher, both of Valdosta. Survivors include her son, David Lewis and his wife, Vicki, of New Market, Tennessee; her son, Jack Lewis, and his wife, Billie of Albany; her daughter, Jennifer Simpson of Lakeland; her grandchildren, Geoff Missavage, Dean Lewis, Buck Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Adam Lewis, Michelle Salter, Kimberly Van Matre, Richard Lewis, Aaron Simpson, Chris Simpson and fourteen great grandchildren; her sisters and her brother, Geraldine Giddens of Lancaster, California, Ava Nell Witherspoon, Irene Scarbrough, Joyce Ruis, Gloria Coppage, and Hulon Fletcher, all of Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. A graveside service and interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
