Euell (Bull) Ernest Mcclung

May 7, 1928 — April 1, 2011

Euell (Bull) Ernest McClung, 82, of Valdosta died Friday, April 1, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 7, 1928 in Haralson County, Georgia to the late Mercer and Willie McClung and had lived in Valdosta for many years. He graduated from Bremen High School in 1946 and attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia on football scholarships. Mr. McClung was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II and was an employee of Georgia Power Company for forty years, retiring in 1989 as a line supervisor in Waycross. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and was an extremely talented tailor, making wedding and ball gowns, dresses, suits and jackets for his family. Mr. McClung was a Boy Scout Troup leader, football coach and referee. He especially loved gardening and was interested in photography, bowling, racing cars, building car engines, furniture making, cooking, music and reading.
Mr. McClung was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church where he taught an Adult Sunday School class up until the loss of his vision and continued to substitute teach for the remainder of his life. His Sunday School class and their Tuesday morning coffee times became the highlight of his week.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Pitts McClung of Valdosta, his children, Teresa (Bert) Hoernschemeyer of Brooksville, Fla., Terrell McClung of Tampa, Fla., Luther (Pam) Joiner, Jr. of Macon, Joey Joiner of Lincolnton, Lynne (Jody) Wilson of Valdosta, his grandchildren, Jonathan Joiner, Abbie (Stephen) Mallery, Haley Joiner, Katie Wilson, Logan Joiner, Cole Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Laura Wilson, Rebecca Joiner and Bridgette Testino, great grandchild, Madison Mallery, his brother, Jerry Ellis (Judy) McClung, his sister, Alberta Kinnard, sister in law, Paula McClung, nephews, Perry McClung, Wayne Long, Mike McClung, Brett McClung, nieces, Diane Holsomback, Bedelia Pullen, Deborah Guillory, Kara Aldridge, Terri Collins, Amy Draffen, numerous great nieces and great nephews. He was especially close to his cousins, Sammy Hathcock and Glenda Hathcock Smith and their families. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy McClung, brothers, Earl McClung, Elton McClung and Everette McClung, sisters, Ora Weed, Addie Kate Long and Opal McEwen and three infant brothers, Edgar, Ezra and Edward.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, April 3, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Blanchard and Wayne Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
