Ethel Supp, 87, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at her residence, after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia to the late John and Ethel Lutz Tomlinson, she had lived here for the past 29 years. Mrs. Supp was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist church. She and her husband Pete served for many years on the Evangelism Committee at Park Avenue United Methodist Church and received the Harry Denman Award in 1991, which is an award given by the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church to lay and clergy persons who have demonstrated the qualities of personal evangelism. Church records indicated that the Supps had visited over 1000 people and many people indicated that they joined Park Avenue UMC because of a visit from the Supps. The Supps were also active participants in and helped to found the South Georgia Walk to Emmaus.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Norma Supp, of Warminster, PA, Peter L. and Sondra Supp of Valdosta, one daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Mike Marafino of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jack (Diane) Supp of Mechanicsville, MD, Jim (Sharon) Supp of Leesburg, PA, Jeff (Robin) Supp of Perkasie, PA, Jennifer (Geoff) Wood, Hatboro, PA, Sherry (Rev. Bill) Curington, of Rocky Face, GA, Cindy (Brett) Ganas, of Valdosta, Gina (Chris) Tindall, of Valdosta, and Angie Marafino, of Valdosta; and 19 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Pete Supp, a granddaughter, Stephanie Supp and a brother Wesley Tomlinson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Supp will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Rev. Craig Rikard and Rev. Lance Kindred will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church Building Fund (100 E.
