ETHEL LEE STEPHENSON, 85, of Lake Park died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at her home. She was born on March 15, 1921 in Tarboro, North Carolina to the late Asa and Georgia Ann Peed Daniels and had lived in Lowndes County for most of her life. Mrs. Stephenson was a member of the Francis Lake Baptist Church and was known for her work as a seamstress for the Lowndes High School Cheerleaders, the Shriners and many weddings in the area. She was the oldest survivor of five generations in her family.
Survivors include three sons and daughters in law, E. L. (Dink) and June Stephenson of Valdosta, Fred and Wanda Stephenson of Hahira, Tommy and Sandra Stephenson of Lake Park, an adopted daughter and son in law, Crystal and Warren Halterman of Clay City, KY., 11-grandchildren, Patrick Stephenson, Sean Stephenson, Fred Stephenson, Jr., Belinda Kay Griner, Victoria Lynn Southerland, Amy Stephenson, Joe Stephenson, Shane Halterman, Stephanie Halterman, Carissa Halterman and Cierra Halterman, 11-great grandchildren, 2-great great grandchildren, a sister, Nellie Simpson of New Town, CT., a sister in law, Laverne Stephenson of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Stephenson, Sr., a son, Robert Franklin (Bobby) Stephenson, a stepson, Woodrow Stephenson, Jr. and a stepdaughter, Mary Frances Asbell.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday following the memorial service until 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Stephenson will be cremated following her services and burial will be held in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
