Era Belle Clanton, 85, of Lake Park, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Perrine, FL on August 1, 1923 to the late Bruce A. and Fannie Brantley Hendley. Mrs. Clanton was a homemaker and a member of the Holiness Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Robbie Nell and Robert Corey and Nelda Sue Wilson of Lake Park, two sons and three daughters in law, Russell and Barbara Clanton of Valdosta and Lamar and Louise Clanton of Talking Rock, GA, Sylvia Clanton of Valdosta, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, one sister, Ruby Greene of Adel. Mrs. Clanton is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Edwin Clanton, one son, George Clanton, two grandchildren, Donna Lasseter and Allen Corey, two brothers, two sisters, and one son in law, Doug Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at two p. m. at Long Bridge Primitive Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Clanton officiating. Burial will follow in the Longbridge Cemetery. She will be placed in the church at one p. m. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
