Emory “Rusty” Griffis, 57, of Valdosta, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Valdosta on January 21, 1950 to the late Emory L. Griffis and Sara Frances Pipkin Griffis Mullins. He co-owned and managed Economy Decorator in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Griffis loved boating, fishing and cooking out.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Bill Hamlett; son and daughter-in-law, Emory “Griff” and Jenna Griffis all of Quitman; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Deborah Griffis of Valdosta; nieces and nephews, Kristopher and Anna Griffis of Barwick, Kimberly Griffis Stahl and James Stahl of Navarre, FL; great nieces and nephews, Logan Griffis, Clayton Griffis, Emily Hastings; father-in-law, Henry Snow of Valdosta; aunts and uncle, Helen Sims of Ray City, Carolyn and James Jones of Bainbridge and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children, Alisa Snow Griffis and his mother-in-law, Betsy Snow.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday November 11, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Henry Cannington officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
