Emma Lou (Pug) Shaw

May 29, 1924 — March 24, 2013

Emma Lou "Pug" Wisenbaker Shaw, 88, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Presbyterian Home, Quitman.

She was born May 29, 1924 in Helena, Alabama, the daughter of the late Charlton Robert and Illa Lucile McClendon Wisenbaker. She graduated from Valdosta High School with the Class of 1941, where she was the first Majorette for the Marching Band. During World War II she lived in Miami, Florida, and was employed as a waitress serving many servicemen, comforting them and making them smile. She was last employed as a Pharmacy Technician and gift shop merchandiser in Macon, Georgia, moving back to Valdosta in 1994 to be closer to family.

Emma loved her Lord and her family, and she was always a great example to family and others of how to live a Godly life. She had previously attended Lake Park Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling, reading and watching old movies.

She is survived by one son, Robert E. Shaw and friend Jackie Kent of Huntsville, Alabama; one daughter, Lu S. Williams and companion Michael Jetter of Valdosta; one granddaughter, Melissa S. Santiago and husband Jose; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Santiago, all of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The family would like to thank all the special caregivers at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Bethany Hospice and the Church of Christ in Quitman for delivering the Lord's Supper to her every Sunday. Also, a special thanks to all who sent her encouraging notes while she lived at the Home.
