Emma Jane Autry Garrison, 91, of Ray City died on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Guyton, Georgia to the late Theodore and Emma Jane Foushee Autry and has been a resident of this area since 1948. She was the co-owner/operator of the family's agriculture business until her retirement. She was a former Sunday school teacher with the 1st Christian Church in Ray City, a member of the Valdosta Azalea and Camellia Society. She was also very active with the CWF at 1st Christian of Valdosta as well as the Soup Kitchen until her health failed her. She had also been an adult literacy teacher and advocate. Mrs. Garrison was an avid gardener, and enjoyed RVing and Camping. She was a member of 1st Christian Church of Valdosta.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joy Garrison; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Autry Garrison Ph.D. and Ingrid Kuypers; a daughter, Karen Myrtice Garrison all of Ray City; a daughter, Lisa Jane Garrison of Robinsville, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Joey Young, Michael Young, and Miriam Evans; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and many friends made over a lifetime.
A memorial service for Mrs. Garrison will be held at 1st Christian Church on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Chris Michael officiating.
