Emil Borchert, Jr., 72, of Lake Park died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Atlanta Medical Center. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 27, 1942 to the late Emil and Mary Kline Borchert. He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and an independent contractor in telecommunications. Mr. Borchert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served in Bay of Pigs, The Cuban Missile Crisis and Cambodia. He was an amateur radio operator and his call number was WA4FYA. He was a member of the Suwannee Amateur Radio Club. Mr. Borchert enjoyed fishing and being with family. He enjoyed playing his accordion and marching with the string bands.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Brown Borchert, a daughter, Emily Carol Brown Borchert both of Lake Park, son and daughter in law, Emil (Butch) III and Dianna Borchert of Ft. Myers, FL, son, Robert S. Borchert of Texas, sons, Mathew Borchert and Jason Borchert of Florida, daughter and son in law, Michele and Adam Petsche of Florida, daughter, Lori Borchert of Florida, brother and sister in law, George and Catherine Borchert of Pine Hill, NJ, three sisters, Theresa St. John and Marie Pepper both of Atco, NJ and Hermina Johnson of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Memorial services will be held at 11am, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with The Very Rev. Denise Ronn officiating.
