Emey Lee Swilley

Emey Lee Swilley, 91, of Valdosta, died at home on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Born on October 14, 1917 in Lowndes County, she was the daughter of the late William Madison and Florence Emma Radney Christie. Mrs. Swilley was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lavon and Sharon Swilley, Donald and Carole Swilley, all of Valdosta, Leohn and Kay Swilley of Quitman, Johnny and Wanda Swilley, Wyonne and Larry Templin, Wayne and Maxine Swilley, Sheila and Phillip Badley, all of Valdosta; a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Swilley, grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and Victor Wade, Laurie and David Dawson, Mark Swilley, Donnie and Donna Swilley, Debbie and Scott McBrayer, Chuck and Michelle Smith, Larry and Nickie Smith, Lori and Brent Lehman, Sheila Scott, Christopher Bartley, Andrew Swilley, Leah Swilley, Tim and Tonya Swilley, Danny and Dana Swilley, Wendy and Ben Neal, Kevin Swilley, Scott and Kimberly Templin, Stacey and Nelson Reynolds, Belinda and Leighton Sadler, Tiffany Swilley, Joshua Badley and Caleb Badley, 28-great grandchildren, one sister, Jeanette McCranie of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, C. O. Swilley, three grandsons, Michael Swilley, Keith Swilley and David Swilley, four brothers and three sisters.


Services will be held at 11am, Friday, September 11, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Badley officiating. Burial will follow at Swilley Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
