Elwood "E.E." Starling, 90, of Lake Park died on Wednesday, March 09, 2016 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 20, 1925 in Lowndes County to the late Elzie and Mamie Lee Carter Starling and has been a lifelong resident here. Mr. Starling was a veteran of the United States Navy and honorably served during WWII with the Seabee's. He retired from Georgia Power as a supervisor with the Sub Station maintenance department. Mr. Starling loved to travel and loved to fish and he was a member of the Dasher Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Starling of Lake Park; a daughter, Debbie Ruth Starling also of Lake Park; four sisters, Margaret Butler of Rome, Catherine Brown of Valdosta, Evelyn Brown of Lake Park and Annie Lee Santorelly of Monroe, New York; two brothers, Donald Starling of Lake Park and William Starling of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren and their spouses, Ivey and Taye Griffin of Dasher, Alison Hansley and her fiancé, Heath Eason both of Hahira, Kohle McLeod of Dasher and Derrik and Jennie McLeod of Hahira. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Brown Starling and a brother in WWII, Fonderan "Willie" Starling.
A graveside service for Elwood "E.E." Starling will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Copeland Cemetery with Mr. David Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
