Eloise M. Smith, 82, of Valdosta died on Friday, August 1, 2014 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on August 5, 1931 in Griffin, Georgia to the late James Minter and Elizabeth Dexter Molder and has been a resident of Valdosta since moving here from Athens 63 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Merrill Guice of Valdosta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Courtland and Cynthia Smith of Warner Robins, Josh and Cyndie Smith of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Stuart and Gwen Smith of Douglas, Georgia; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jane M. Powell of Bainbridge, Georgia and Edith and Edward Lummus of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Courtland Winn Smith, Sr. and her sister, Frances Molder.
Services for Eloise Smith will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with The Rev. Dr. Dave Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the Christ Episcopal Memorial Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ Episcopal Memorial Fund or to the Pearlman Cancer Center.
