Elmer Oliver Rogers, 78, of Valdosta, died at Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta, on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Born in Allenville, Berrien County, Georgia, on November 30, 1936, he was a son of the late Ed Oliver and Bessie Irene Floyd Rogers. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Lake Park Church of God. He owned and operated Elmer's Tire Country and Elmer Roger's Logging Company. Mr. Rogers loved life and enjoyed helping folks with whatever needed to be done. He enjoyed farming, family, fishing, and a good ride in his truck.
Survivors are his daughter and son in law, Debbie Harris and Mike Hickman of Lake Park; son and daughter in law, Raymond R. and Emmie Rogers of Lake Park; granddaughter, Cindy Tillery Young and Reggie of Valdosta, grandson, Chris and Sara Rogers of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Timothy Tillery, Ella Young, Carly Rogers, Andrew Rogers all of Valdosta; a sister, Mona Matola of Tampa, Florida; five step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Rogers, four brothers, three sisters and a great grandson, Tristen Connor Rogers.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Lake Park Church of God. Reverend Keith Sandlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
