Ellsworth Riley Brown, Sr., 75 of Lake Park, died on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born the son of Mary Jane Williams Brown, on July 14, 1929, in Lanier County, he had lived most of his life in Lowndes County. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was a Mason and member of the Azalea Lodge. He was retired from the City of Valdosta where he had worked as Director of Public Works.
Survivors are his wife, Betty C. Brown of Lake Park; daughter and son in law, Evanne and Kenny Hamm of Lake Park; son and daughter in law, Riley, Jr. and Carol Brown of Lowndes County; stepdaughters and their spouses, Marcia and Gene Felts of Valdosta, Anita and John McDuffie of Albany; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Caudle Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Phil West and Reverend David Hibberts will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Flowers will be received or donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Brown.
