Ellis T. Corbett

Ellis T. Corbett, 71, of Lake Park, Georgia died Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family at his bedside. He was born in Valdosta on November 10, 1944 to the late Jessie Mae (Sandlin) and Oswald Corbett. He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and a veteran of the United the States Army. Mr. Corbett was employed with Owens Illinois and later was employed with PSC Phosphate until retirement. Mr. Corbett enjoyed fishing, going to the flea market, working and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, L. Diane Carter Corbett, two children, Deidre (Dee Dee) Corbett Smith, Michael T. Corbett all of Lake Park; his grandchildren, Madison "Brooke" Smith, Layten Lee Corbett, Turner Weston Smith, Eli Oscar Corbett; three brothers; Harry Corbett, Roger (Phyllis) Corbett, Mickey Corbett; brothers in law, Wayne (Norma Jean) Sandlin, Jack (Rhonda) Carter, Jimmy (Diane) Carter, Jerry (Beth) Carter; sisters in law; Katie (BB) Smith, Margie (Charles) Miles; sister in law; Joyce Corbett; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in law, Oscar Carter and mother in law, Eva Mae Bennett; a brother, Billy A. Corbett, two sisters in law, Betty Joe Sandlin and Kathy Corbett.
Funeral services for Mr. Corbett will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Sardis Baptist Church with Pastor Mickey Corbett, Pastor Zack Corbett and Mr. Justin Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, 2215 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
