Ellis Hulyn Smith

Ellis Hulyn Smith, 81, of of Valdosta died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at his home after a short illness. He was born in Fulton County on December 23, 1929 to the late Edwin and Kate Puckett Smith and had lived in Valdosta since 1958. Mr. Smith was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and served in the Georgia National Guard. He was a loving grandfather, father and husband, who loved growing camellias. Mr. Smith served as past president of the America Camellia Society, Valdosta Camellia Society and served on the Valdosta City School Board of Education for twelve years.

Survivors include his wife, Janet P. Smith of Valdosta, three daughters and two sons in law, Renee Smith Powell and Hank Powell of Newnan, Lauren Smith Tudor, Mandy Smith White and Jeff White all of Valdosta, his grandchildren, Rebecca Land Segrest and Glenn Segrest of Rome, GA., Amarie Clare Land of Atlanta, Mary Camille Land of Newnan, Kathryn McLendon Land of Newnan, and their father, Robert Tommy Land of Valdosta; Amanda Renee Tudor, Emily Kate White and Bryant William White all of Valdosta,

Memorial services will be held at 11am, Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Peter Ingeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Christ Episcopal Church Urn Garden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 1521 N.
