Elliot D. Hayes, 83, passed into eternal peace on January 14, 2020, at 12:20 am. He was born in Joliet, IL, to the parents Mary Harrison (Hayes) and Eliot Fitzgerald Hayes on February 7, 1936. He was a man with many interests ranging from Bible studies, computers, gardening, photography, and his long career as a Master Electrician.
He met his first wife, Violet Hayes, while working at a photo processing facility in Coolidge, AZ. He worked in the mines in Arizona, Wyoming, and Colorado, and worked in construction. He met his second wife, Delores Hayes, while working at the AT&T plant in Shreveport, La.
He was a free spirit that lived his life on his own terms, fully. He lived his final years in Hahira, GA, with his daughter Donna Hayes Ference and family. He was happiest when he was talking about his life and experiences, and the time he spent in his adopted home, Arizona. Though age took his extended travels, he cherished his excursions with his son-in-law, John Ference around Hahira and Valdosta. Often times, just driving country roads together enjoying each other's company. He read the newspaper daily while drinking his coffee and was always ready to debate the issues of the day. His strong spirit and zest for life will be fondly remembered by his children, Donna Hayes Ference, Elliot D. Hayes, Jr, and Maria Denese Hayes Trejo-Moran.
His is survived by his 3 children, both wives, Violet V. Hayes and Delores Hayes, 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His brother and remaining sisters mourn with the family, as do his friends and those he considered family.
His final wish to have his ashes spread at Superstitious Mountains will be performed by his children and close family.
A celebration of his life will be held at his final home at 501 Barnside Lane, Hahira, GA at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.McLaneCares.com. Carson McLane.
