Elizabeth Southall Nichols, 80, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Valdosta on May 22, 1933 to the late Julius T. Sr., and Mary Willis Southall. She was retired from 1St Union after 20 plus years of dedicated service. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Elizabeth's family was her life and dedicated herself to their happiness and well-being. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and John Paul Carpenter of Holly Springs, Mississippi; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Georgia Nichols of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Christie Nichols Napadano and David Napadano of Philadelphia, PA., Brett and Suzanne Nichols of Valdosta, Jennifer and Curt Huey of Holly Springs, MS., and Emily and Mark Embrey of Edmond, OK.; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Nichols of Valdosta and Nicholas Napadano of Philadelphia, PA.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Julian W. Nichols.
A graveside service for Elizabeth Southall Nichols is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Ousley Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
