Elizabeth Russell Friedel

Elizabeth Russell Friedel, 89, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born on on February 15, 1920 in Naugatuck, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Jane Lawson Waldron. Mrs. Friedel worked as an operator at Western Union for 29 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Lark Russell of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Herb Cravey of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Casey and Heather Russell of Lake Park, Cory and Brigitte Russell of Valdosta, and Maria Elisabeth Cravey of Valdosta; great-grandchildren, Steven Russell, Sarah Russell and Aurora Russell; sister, Lavalette McEachern Justice of Niceville, FL; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Friedel was preceded in death by her first husband, Hiram E. Russell, second husband, Ross Friedel and a brother, Grover Woodrow Waldron.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Evangelist Evans McMullens and Mr. Marvin Greene, minister of Lake Park Church of Christ. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Lake Park Church of Christ Building Fund.
