Elizabeth Grisham Brown Schurig

Elizabeth Grisham (Libba) Brown Nabors Schurig, 72, of Valdosta, passed away at their home on Friday, February 14, 2014. Born December 28, 1941, she was the daughter of the late George Marion Brown, Jr. and Elizabeth Stanford Brown of Atlanta, and she was the great great granddaughter of Governor Joseph Emerson Brown and Elizabeth Grisham Brown.
Elizabeth was a graduate of the Northside High Class of 1959 and went on to attend the University of Alabama, as well as Massey Business College. She was employed in the field of real estate, and was a proud member of the Junior League of Atlanta with whom she was actively involved in volunteer work around the Atlanta area.
Preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Howard A. Schurig of Valdosta and is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth G. Nabors of Valdosta, future son in law, Brett A. DuBois of Valdosta, two grandsons, Jeffrey S. Palmer of Morristown, Tennessee, John Austin Drake of Kingston, Tennessee, sister, Marion Ledbetter of Valdosta, stepdaughters, Charlotte Neggia of New Jersey, Kristina Weigel of New Jersey and Caroline Davis of Pennsylvania, as well as close friends , Susannah Swanson of Atlanta and Caroline Kelley of Birmingham, Alabama.
A memorial service will be held sometime in May. Arrangements to be announced by the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local animal shelter. www.mclanecares.
