Elizabeth (Betty) Dame

Elizabeth (Betty) Dame, 94, of Valdosta, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House. She would have been 95 on February 27 and was born in 1920 in Jefferson County, Alabama to the late Charles Orville Allred and Minnie Reece Allred. Mrs. Dame was a school teacher for forty years. She was a very active member of Northside Baptist Church and loved her Sunday school class. Mrs. Dame graduated from Peabody Teachers College at Vanderbilt University. She enjoyed her activities with the Valdosta Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Caroline and Jeff Carpenter of Jasper, GA, two sons and daughters in law, William Franklin, Jr. and Ginnie Dame of Woodstock, GA, Charles A. and Cindy Dame of Lake Park, eight grandchildren, Brad Evans (Marissa), Suzanne Jensen (Christopher), Carrie Winn (Justin), Riley Dame (Brittney), Lacey Dame, Laura Lee Dame, Melissa Dame and Sarah Brown, nine great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, Susan Burris, Charles Allred, III, Julian P. Allred, Libby McIntyre, Sean Murphy and Kimberly S. Hagan. Mrs. Dame is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William F. Dame, her brother, Charles Allred, Jr. and her sister, Patricia Allred Murphy.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, February 16, 2015 at 2:30 p. m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from one until two p. m. at the funeral home.
