Eliza Otto Bader Hoff

October 5, 1912 — December 7, 2004

Hoff

Eliza Otto Bader Hoff went peacefully at home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2004 at her home in Valdosta, Georgia.

Eliza was born on October 5, 1912 a descendent of the “Old 300” Texas settlers and grew up loving cooking, painting, sewing of all types, reading, and worshiping the Lord in the small Texas town of Bellville where at the young age of 18 she started up a sewing shop to support her family. She did this until she met a handsome “doodlebugger” named Edwin Hoff with whom she was married in 1934. They had a son Edwin Hoff, Jr. in 1938 and continued to live the tough life of an oilfield explorer family until they settled in Madill, OK and later in Antlers, OK where her husband died in 1980. In 1997, she moved to Valdosta, Ga. to be closer to her son and loving family. Over the years, Eliza blessed so many with her gifts of listening, caring, cooking, quilting, doll-making, story telling, and most of all - being a great friend and confidant to those in need. So many words describe Eliza: survivor, nurturing, caring, loyal, intelligent, spiritual, pioneering, sharp wit, … but no characteristic was more appreciated than the unconditional love she showed for her family, friends, and pets. She will be truly missed by all that were blessed by knowing her.

Eliza is preceded in death by her friend Ann Long, and is survived by her loving son Ed and his wife Madolyn Hoff of Valdosta, her granddaughter Lisa Kamali and husband Dr. Touraj Kamali of Fairfax, Va., granddaughter Shawnee Bush and husband John Paul of Valdosta, grandson Ed and wife Leesa of Montgomery, TX, grandson Scott Tyler and wife Jennifer of Valdosta, grandson Patrick Tyler and wife Alise who is serving our country in Germany, grandson Bobby Tyler and wife Celeste of Valdosta, her beloved sister-in-law Zela Bader, nephew Ian Bader and family of Bellville, TX and niece Kathy Jackson and family of Houston, TX, great-grandsons Nicholas and Andreas Kamali in Virginia, Edwin Hoff, IV in Texas, James Tyler in Germany, and Hunter Tyler in Valdosta, her loyal cat Al, and numerous relatives and friends she has nurtured over her 92 years of life.

To celebrate the life of this wonderful person, the family will be holding visitation and funeral services on Thursday, December 8 from 6:00 pm to 8:30pm at 1302 Gornto Rd. in Valdosta, Georgia with a private internment service to follow on Friday.
