Eldora Pittman Pike

Eldora Pittman Pike, 94, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Fellowship Home. She was born on Oct. 2, 1923 in Valdosta to the late Kyle James Pittman and Mollie Sauls Pittman. Growing up in Lowndes County, she attended and graduated from Naylor High School. After high school she worked at Cress’s Department Store in downtown Valdosta. In the mid 1940’s, she met and married Julian L. Pike, Sr. and they were married for nearly 60 years prior to his death in 2003. Later she worked at J.C. Penny Department Store for many years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Pike was also a devoted mother and homemaker, raising her kids and she was especially devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Bemiss United Methodist Church and being outside and working in her yard was her favorite pastime.
She is survived by her daughter Jackie Fountain of Valdosta, her son and daughter in law, Lanny & Becky Pike, of Valdosta; a brother, Mitchell Pittman of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Kyle (Gidget) Sweat, Renee Austin, Trey (Becky) Pike and Vangie Schmid. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Megan Patterson, Hannah Patterson, Alyson Austin, Silas Pike, Autumn Rae Schmid, Lila Blu Prine and Jasmine Kelly, and many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Elon Burns and Elerlean Heard and three brothers, Carroll Pittman, Jay Pittman & Clifford Pittman.
A funeral for Mrs. Pike will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. James Guthrie will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
