Eldon A. (Ed) Moore, 78, of Hahira died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on April 12, 1935 in Naylor to the late Charles Leland and Blannie Marie Griner Moore and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mr. Moore retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service and as a Field Manager with Gold Kist. He was a Protestant and enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Faye Johnson Moore of Hahira, two daughters and sons in law, Lydia and Joel Hunnicutt of Valdosta, DeeDee and William Berryhill of Ray City, three grandchildren, Grant Hunnicutt, Megan Hunnicutt and Will Berryhill, brother and sister in law, Dwight L. and Marion Moore of Warner Robins, sister and brother in law, Pat and Albert Studstill of Ray City, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother in law, Faye and James Sirmans.
The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to Mr. Moore's special caregrivers, Mary Louise Daniels, Jean Wolfe and Helen Dudley.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00-7:30pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. A private service will be held on Tuesday at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Jeff May officiating.
