Edyth Groover

Edyth Groover, 87, of Valdosta, GA, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Langdale Place in Valdosta. Born on February 27, 1919 in Greensburg, KY, she was the daughter of the late Clay and Clarice Curry and the widow of Fred Groover who died in 1972. She graduated from Georgetown College, Georgetown, KY in 1939 and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She participated for over 60 years in the Round Robin Letter and was a member of the Delta Omicron Music Fraternity. Mrs. Groover was a church organist for many years, taught school and private piano lessons for many years and was a member of the Amaryllis Garden Club and the Literary Guild. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Valdosta.

She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Julie & Steve Chunn of Dayton, OH, Lisa & Phillip Nall of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Chunn of Kettering, OH, Taylor Nall of Charlotte, NC, Katie Nall of Atlanta; sister-in-law & brothers-in-law, Ruth & John Harris of Birmingham, AL and Joe Crane, Sr. of Valdosta and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 28, 2006 with Dr. Phil West, Reverend Mac Weaver, Reverend John Akers, Dr. Benny Woods and Reverend John Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, May 28, 2006 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603 or charity of your choice.
