EDWIN MONROE SHIVER, 88, of Hahira died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at his home. He was born on November 1, 1917 in Brooks County to the late Frank Monroe and Mary Frances Ferrell Shiver and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mr. Shiver was a member of the Hahira United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a charter member of the Hahira Lions Club, was active in his community, church and business affairs and loved being with his family. Mr. Shiver owned and operated agri businesses in Hahira and Morven for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby McCoy Shiver of Hahira, one daughter, Myra Valentine of Madison, Fla., one son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Peggy Shiver of Valdosta, five grandchildren and their spouses, Ed and Joy Valentine of Mandeville, LA., Robbie and Teresa Valentine of St. Augustine, Fla., Ellis Shiver and his fiancé, Laura Babcock of Hahira, Bart and Amy Shiver of Valdosta and Todd and Kelly Shiver of Valdosta, 6-great grandchildren, one sister and two brothers in law, Barbara and Leland Watson of Homeland, Fla. and Thomas Williams of Quitman.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Morven Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Morgan and Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
