Edwin A. (Al) Rehberg, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at the Veteran's Hospital in Lake City, Florida. A lifelong resident of Lowndes County, he was born in Valdosta on August 23, 1945, the son of the late Edwin Alfonso Rehberg, Sr. and Ethel Arnold Rehberg. He was a 1964 graduate of Valdosta High School where he played on the tennis team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Rehberg worked at A & P Grocers as a produce manager for almost 10 years. He also worked in sales for Joseph's Produce and then worked for many years at Akins Petroleum. He was an avid fisherman and especially loved fishing with his sons and grandson. He loved to cook and entertain family and friends. Mr. Rehberg was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors are his sons and daughters in law, Brian and Melinda Rehberg of Lake Park, Jim and Deborah Rehberg of Valdosta; grandchildren, Ray Meyers of Valdosta, Laura Smith of Valdosta, Tara Smith of Valdosta, Tyler Rehberg of Lake Park, Bailey Rehberg of Lake Park; sister and brother in law, Sue and Fomby Hardin, Sr. of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Mary Jane Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Reverend Sammy Reaves will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Condolences may be made online at www.mclanecares.com.
