Edward (Ed) Douglas Puckett, Jr.

Edward (Ed) Douglas Puckett, Jr., 87, of Valdosta, peacefully passed away Sunday morning, January 24, 2010 at Fellowship Home. He was born on September 1, 1922 in Hahira Georgia to the late Edward Douglas, Sr., and Mary Hall Puckett. Ed was proud to have served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After 45 successful years, he retired from automobile sales. He was a devoted choir member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and First Methodist Church of Valdosta. One of Ed's favorite accomplishments was his 22 years of singing with Bottie Chitty and The Singing Americans. He was a member of the American Legion, the Lion's Club, and the Valdosta Country Club.

Ed was a loving and faithful husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by Patricia Sirmans Puckett; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Douglas III and Debbie Puckett of Gainesville, Georgia and Ralph Bridges and Gwyn Puckett of Dacula, Georgia; brother James L. Puckett and sister-in-law, Mrs. Jack H. Puckett of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Garry Hill, McCree and Matt Simmons, Courtney and Ryan Oros, Edward Puckett, Tyler Puckett, and Lindsey Puckett; great-grandchildren, Grayson Simmons and Trey and Virginia Hill.

Services for Ed Puckett will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
