Edna Stripling Sizemore

Edna Stripling Sizemore went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the age of 84.

Edna was born on November 6, 1939, in Chula, GA, to the late Clarence Loyd Stripling and Lillie Mae Howell. She attended Irwin County High School where she played basketball and was a member of the cheerleading squad. After graduation she worked in administration at the ASC Office in Tifton, Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, and at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. On April 2, 1961, Edna married the love of her life, Royce Sizemore, of Tifton, GA. Edna had a deep love for her flowers and plants, and her gardening talents were nothing short of remarkable. Later in life, Edna discovered a passion for golf and cherished the time spent on the golf course with her friends. For several years Edna and Royce were devoted members of Covenant Baptist Church in Valdosta and in 2016 they moved into the Baptist Village in Macon where they faithfully attended Berean Baptist Church. Following Royce’s passing in 2020, Edna moved back to Valdosta and took up residence at Langdale Place. She brought joy to her caregivers, lighting up the lives of the CNAs with her quick wit and warm smile.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Christine) Sizemore; grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Chavez, Ryan (Rachel) Schwarz, Wesley (Michelle) Sizemore, Justine Sizemore and Jackson Sizemore; and several great grandchildren; son-in-law, Jerry Cohoon; sister, Vivian (Gilbert) Sandiford; sister-in-law, Francis Stripling; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Sizemore; daughter, Tanya Sizemore Cohoon; brothers, Loyd (Janet) Stripling and Floyd Stripling; and sister, Lillie Pearl Stripling.

A funeral service for Edna will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, at the mausoleum chapel of McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Joe Bowker officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Berean Baptist Church, 5151 Columbus Road, Macon, GA, 31206.
