Edna McKie Ivey, 92, Valdosta resident since 1934, died on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Franklin County, Georgia on February 26, 1913, she was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Rozenia Williams McKie. Mrs. Ivey was retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange at Moody AFB. She was a member of the Bemiss United Methodist Church and active for many years with the United Methodist Women.
Survivors are her daughter and son in law, Nancy and Vance Boone of Valdosta; grandchildren, Michael Winn of Jacksonville, Florida, Michelle and Mike Krzynski, Brett and Susan Boone of Valdosta; great grandson, Jacob Krzynski of Valdosta; sister, Lila McKie Jones of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ivey was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Winn Forte, sisters, Rubye Faircloth, Lillian Guest, Mary McKie, brothers, Walter McKie, Marvin McKie, Roy McKie and Hoyt McKie.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bemiss United Methodist Church. Reverend Bob Shell will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Adel. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Mrs. Ivey will lay in state at the church on Sunday for one hour prior to service time.
